Willy-Goldberger - Cinematographer Wilhelm Goldberger had already gained a foothold in the film business in 1915 by the film company of Heinrich Bolten-Baeckers. But his career was interrupted in 1917 with his entry into World War I. After the war he was able to assert himself as a cinematographer and he became a leading specialist of his craft in the 20s.At the beginning of the 30s he was able to demonstrate again his abilities for numerous feature movies and he was responsible for the camera for Zwei Herzen im Dreiviertel-Takt (1930).His life was turned upside down when as a Jew he had to leave Germany after the takeover of the National Socialists. In the next years he lived and worked in numerous European countries but had the luck to be able to got many engagements as a cinematographer again.When Austria also did no longer offer a secure existence he went via Sweden and Portugal to Spain where he could continue his film career again with no problems. Together with the also emigrated cinematographer Heinrich Gärtner he ran a school for cinematographers and they impressed the next generation of Spanish film workers behind the camera.On some Spanish films he is credited as Guillermo Goldberger.When Wilhelm Goldberger retired from his professional life his traces went lost.
